The Truth About Broadcast Why students should think hard before coming to broadcast Pre-production forces you to crack your brains and squeeze your creative juices dry as you plan for the best story ideas and challenge yourself to come up with scripts and storyboards that pushes you out of the comfort zones. You develop stories, thinking they have good potential, only to realize they are cliche after consulting with your crew and seniors. Production is terribly agonizing as you spend multitudinous hours shooting under rain and shine. You gradually lose track of time, and dedicate your soul to your shoots. You squabble with crew members due to differences in opinions, only to realize how silly the arguments were. You devote money traveling on taxis or topping up your car petrol so to get equipments or cast on set. As you reach the end of each shoot, you find yourself exhausted with little time to commit to other projects or friends. Post-Production kills brain cells. You parcel out time for different aspects of editing - sound, visuals, effects and copy. You beat yourself hard when you realize your framing sucks, and pray that reshooting isn't required which obviously comes to naught. You ferret out melodies and sound effects over the Internet, and sacrificing your lessons so that actors can do their voiceovers. Finally when you are near completion, it dawns on you that exporting and file formats drastically destroys your beautiful masterpiece . Oh, not forgetting the shock with the sudden realization that equipments are missing or are damaged! Why do broadcast students still drive themselves nuts over film projects then? Well, call us sadistic, but we derive joy from all of the above stated, especially after seeing the fruits of our labour. :) |
