Beep Test The multi-stage fitness test or beep test, is used by sports coaches to estimate an athlete's maximum oxygen uptake, and is employed by many international sporting teams as an accurate test of Cardio - Vascular fitness. The test involves running continuously between two points that are 20 m apart. These runs are synchronized with a pre-recorded audio tape, which plays beeps at set intervals. As the test proceeds, the interval between each successive beep reduces, forcing the athlete to increase velocity over the course of the test, until it is impossible to keep in sync with the recording. Some sports leagues also require their players to clear a certain level before being allowed to play in the league (e.g The S.League sets a minimum pass mark of Level 12. __ Surprisingly I was the last survivor in Air Wing. Stopped at Level 12, Stage 6. Yet to my annoyance, I heard a fair bit of gasps from unfamiliar souls who were shocked that I beat some renowned runners (those who can easily run 2.4 at sub 9 minutes.) Maybe my buddies are right, my stomach which might be larger in size can be useful enough to contain oxygen too |
