The life of a bald boy.. Stepping into BMTC SCH 2, I was filled with mixed feelings. A tinge of excitement as well as anxiety. Intimidated that I was coerced by the environment to accept a regimental lifestyle, to practice discipline and watch over every single action to avoid implications. Honestly it was arduous. Journeying through the first three weeks in camp with no sense of identity. It took me a while to shed that innate layer of unfriendliness that plastered on my face (apparently many of them told me eventually that I look like a typical abnoxious and arrogant individual initially.) I missed home, I seriously did. And to ease that unhappiness, I scribbled on my SAF book, counting down to the date where I will be finally be released from that stale environment. My first book-out came and went. And I begin to make good friends with my bunk mates, like my bed buddy Chang Yong who has to stand-by handphone at 9.30pm daily to converse with his beloved mum and Fabian who constantly squeezed my butt and made me the primary victim of gay action movement. Life inside perked up, and optimism reached peak high when I realised that army is not that bad afterall, especially when I have these individuals who constantly created fun and laughter. One of the highlights of BMT was indeed the Field Camp as guaranteed by my commanders. It was then I realised what was my limits. Mentally and emotionally I matured, and maybe my digestive system got more polished too after constipating for six days (grotesque huh? =P) More importantly, I realised who are those whom have inborn leadership qualities, as well as how many individuals react when they are pressurised and exhausted. Physically I improved. Clocking a 9.03 for my 2.4km was a major achievement for me. And I managed to secure a silver when I jumped a 225 (hohoho!) Pull ups remained at 12. That probably sums up my BMT life. Currently still awaiting for my next posting. And meanwhile I shall enjoy! Weee. |
