Bad Day Canoeing competition today.. Could see all my seniors gave their best, but the competition was really intense. Was kind of sad and disappointed when I heard the big ass and his irritating partner capsized just metres away from the finishing line. They trained extremely hard and got disqualified. Fortunately, they cheered up eventually. At least they were optimistic. =) Anyway, didn't expect the direction of our canoe to be this horrendous. The backwash of our competitors steered our canoe towards the right. I tried sweeping but it was to no avail. So without much hestitation, I tapped the water (in other words stopped the boat) so that we could keep in lane and not get disqualified. He shouted at me for my actions. I didn't ponder too much and tried my best, only to continue stopping the boat several times. As a result, we got the last position. And it was really shocking and disappointing that we did not even have the chance to use our strategy- we were basically fighting to keep in lane instead. When the race ended, I could see that he was pissed off and disappointed. I explained my actions, but as he repeated them, I felt really guilty even though I knew that I was merely trying my best to salvage the situation then. I told him immediately after the race that there will be at least one team which will get disqualified (due to going out of their lane), and indeed, two teams were disqualified. And naively, I thought that he will be more understandable when he saw the results. When Lina enquired why we kept 'tapping' the water, he blamed me, and though I was feeling horrible, I explained yet again, trying my best to remain a smile on my face. '' If you didn't keep stopping during the race, we will get third instead of fourth.'' And that was the final straw. I can stand all your rude and insensitive jokes, calling me names, and not being serious during training at times. I tried to understand your personality, and that is the reason I believe we will be good partners. I told you before that there is a limit to one's patience. I can endure all the criticisms, laugh at your hurtful jokes when it was directed at me because I know you are just kidding. I try not to argue with you so that it will not cause a conflict. I waited for you to do some warm-up exercises because you were my partner. And in return, I was labelled with the name again. I explained that it was early to train, but you disagree and I obliged. I reminded you that we will have to canoe a few more rounds before our race but yet you disappeared. I really tried my best not to argue, But you make me feel like a fool instead of a partner. And all I can say it, enough is enough. |
