Tiring Days, but they were great.. This entire week is tiring.. After my birthday on the 6th (Anyway, thanks to my 'gang' for organising that gathering for me but sorry that I stayed only for mere 4 hours), I went for my first training. Thought I will be late actually, but turned out that I arrive just on time. It was held in GB building, extremely near from temasek towers where Ben works. The first class was held by Joanne, a friendly as well as jolly woman. When she speaks, you will feel like smiling too. That shows how jovial she is. Anyway, was quite uncomfortable initially with my classmates (all of us were), but slowly we got to know each other, at least for a little. Class was about starbucks experience, and all the introducting knowledge we were suppose to learn fit into our heads quite easily I guess. Class went on smoothly, and soon, it ended. Learnt how to write S.M.A.R.T goals as well. The next day, I went for training again. This time, lesson was about Simply Service. As the name suggest, the lesson will teach us to be courteous and polite to all customers, no matter what races (even if they are Indians), sizes or attitudes they possess. I learnt more about 'thinking before you speak' and should not criticise others even if was meant to be a joke, as it will hurt their pride no matter how sincere your apology is or how mild the joke was. Anyway, it is tough, but I guess I will try my best to keep smiling (goodness!), keeping eye contact (Die!) as well as be more patient. (I bet any one who knows me is laughing out now..) Anyway, the coach who lead us was Jen, a pretty woman who has a great figure and standing at least 1.68m tall. I was wondering why she did not consider joining the model profession when I realised that she is more suitable for F&B, because she really does have a cheerful and great attitude. Today was my third training session. Initially, I thought Trudi (my coach of the day) who was a lookalike butch is a ferocious monster who seems to eat up anyone who opens their mouth, because she looks really stern. Well, I'm wrong to a great extent, as she kept smiling today and saying jokes to liven the dead atmosphere (most of us only slept 4 to 5 hours). Unfortunately, Yvonne got reprimanded for wearing jeans as well as Ai Chen who was sent back home as she was late for 10 minutes. That's her job as a vice-president of Starbucks I guess. Learnt about Service Deployment today. This class, a high anticipated and nervous one, taught us about how to write down orders as well as calling them in proper sequences. We were told to memorise the magic numbers, '1 1 2 2', '1 2 3 4' & '2 3 4 5'. Haha.. Well, not too tough it seems? But when you are the one practicing, it will really require you to stay extremely focus and alert. Though this lesson was much tougher than our previous ones, it was really fun. Next, went to take a typloid jap. Injections are creepy and horrible. Haha.. Well, took that today on my right arm (since I'm a left handed), but felt emotionless though. I realised my mother was just scaring me. Blah. After that, I went over to Concourse starbucks, which is where my working place is. Just in case anyone does not know where is it (I didn't too at first), it is very near to Lavender Mrt Station. You can either walk a 15 minutes journey there, or choose to take buses (10/14/107). It was starbucks 'free tall drink day', and my classmates and I were told to return to our respective stalls if possible to observe how baristas work effectively as a team. End up helping them to wash everything instead, as told by my sister. Well, it wasn't easy, as the 'dirty' items keep coming along every 20 seconds, but thankfully, I got to know my fellow baristas as well as having a first hand experience of what working in a 'rush' is like. Today is definitely a tiring day, but enjoyed i tremendously. Chatted with a guy at night, and he was quite talkative and cheerful. End up he went to sleep first while I'm a wide awake as I kept uttering nonsense. Haha.. But gonna thank him too, at least he made me felt more comfortable, was really quite bad tempered just now since I was really really tired. |
