Thailand Trip Thailand, or Bangkok was really fun. You can imagine how fun is it, for someone who hates shopping and crowds to say that. But prepare to get fat. Day 1 Imagine how scared stiff I was when I sat on the plane. (Don't laugh) I was trying to act cool, pretending that I am not afraid, but I was at the verge of tearing the cushion on my seat into pieces. Anyway, the dinner was great (I did not eat much for the day), as you can choose between chicken and pork. Quite delicious, and service was good too. Finally, after two hours, we arrived in Bangkok. While we were seeking for the 'one night tour guide', there was a guard who shouted out for my sister and me. Sis was so infuriated, as she was mistaken to be a illegal immigrant?! She ignored the guard, as she thought he was one that seek for prostitute or a taxi driver. (But why was I called too? Do I look like a immigrant?) Took the van and proceeded to our hotel, D'ma Pavilion. The exterior was shabby and looked quite ordinary, but we were surprised by a beautiful surrounding inside. Went to shop around for a while, before we went back to our rooms, only to find that our room was short of a bed (it was a two-man room). I was a little discouraged and embarressed, as I was like a lightbulb in the room! Ben was sleeping with sister, while mum, uncle and I shared another room. However, I put off that thought, and went to sleep. Day 2 4 hours of sleep, and my eyes were sore red! Anyway, had our first breakfast in the hotel. Like I mentioned, despite the bad condition the hotel had exteriorly, the breakfast was great. Buffet breakfast, and there was a wide range of food, from usual western food like scrambled eggs and ham to chinese food. Proceed to the gem factory next. It was really boring, because gems don't interest me. The prices were exorbitantly high too, and fortunately, mum was persuaded not to buy a ring. Next, we went to the one of the largest weekend market in Bangkok, known as Central Market. Alighting from the taxi, we were greeted by a extremely huge crowd. (I thought I will lose conscious with the sight of it) Anyway, we started to shop, and our lazing hands were slowly carrying bags and bags of items. The prices were really cheap, for example, a simple t shirt costed only $4. Soon, I 'lost' the phobia of crowds, and begins to shop carefreely, buying tshirts, socks and a jeans. The shopping trip was really fruitful, and before we went back, we went to view large amount of pets that were put on sale. There was a woman who tied the dog's ears together, so that it seems to be more unique. I was so sick with the sight of it, and how i hope to give the woman one punch for such cruelty. Following that, we went for dinner in a Chinese restaurant. Hey, the meal was a sumptuous one, with a wide array of food ordered. I could feel my tummy rising... Day 3 Today was no better, I had only 4 hours sleep again. Went for breakfast, and proceeded off to visit a temple. When we reached, all of them went in, while I patiently awaited outside for them. I chatted with the taxi driver through broken english, and he told me to make a call for him. I thought I messed it up until the call went through. He wanted me to say some greetings to the guy, but everytime I tried to talk, the call was hung up. (I guess its because I could not speak Thai) The taxi driver drove us to another hotel for lunch next. Said 'thank you' in Thai to the driver, who smiled and left. And when I thought Thai people were generally more friendly and nicer, my sister, Ben and I were barred from entering the restaurant (we already enter just now, and went to toilet after that), and we explained angrily to the supervisor. Sister and I was furious, as her actions just deem to us that she thinks we are poor beggars who came in for free food. There was one vain supervisor who kept making his suit and hair, adn it made me thought that the staff there were more interested in their own appearances. The meal, though costed a bomb, was not as tasty as it seems. It was a grand buffet, that have many food, such as Japanese sashimi, western meats and salad, chinese tim sum and their local delicacies. The desserts were really tempting in appearance wise, but most tasted ordinarily, and some was really disgustingly creamy. Went for shopping next, and you can imagine how tired my legs felt as we walked from one shopping centre to another. Well, perhaps I was a little bored, so I looked around and.. *Laugh out loud* Anyway, I bought a ring (that's all) but I had to carry tons of things! Went for dinner at a Japanese restaurant, before we proceeded back to hotel for a good night rest. Day 4 Breakfast (again), and we went straight to our first destination, a popular temple. Took some pictures while the rest of them prayed (adding 'fervently' to my uncle and mum). Sis looked so bored, and I was quite amused at her puzzled reactions. Went to the huge Isetan shopping mall, and shopping began. We went to visit a starbucks outlet there, and we were greeted by courteous staff members. Sister commented that a nice guy, who treated us to a free drink, was quite good looking. I did agree, at least he look much better than the hotel asshole (refer to day 3), and most importantly, he was really courteous. Bought a necklace that costed $100. Didn't want to buy it, but mum paid for it anyway. Shopped around 6 hours, before we went to eat at a seafood restaurant. Well, that's when the trouble began. Mum was angry with uncle, as uncle kept remarking that she is not compatible with the clothes because she is fat, etc. A small problem arised to be a big one, and Ben, sis and I were quite afraid. Day 5 A heated argument arised between my mum and uncle early in the morning. Fortunately, I was there to be the mediator, and finally, both of them calm down. Went down for our last breakfast, and uncle and mum was extremely moody. Next, we visited Chinatown, where we bought many local snacks and crackers. When I thought that mum and uncle were finally alright, another argument arised between Ben and sister. Honestly, my sister was cranky, so she was not capable to hold her anger. Went to visit another market, and like central market, it offered tons of accessories, clothes as well as jewelleries. Ben, who did not buy much shirts, bought around 6 of them today. Late lunch was next, as we visited the seafood restaurant again (Day 1, Day 4 and today). The host, a lady was familiar with us and offered us food at a much cheaper price. (Imagine eating 7 dishes for only around 30 to 40 bucks. I don't think any restaurant in Singapore offer that price) Took a flight back and we were met by two different types of air stewardess. One was really nice, and provided great service. However, the another gave a stuck up face and had an attitude of -F* you for asking me to work-. Well, all of us were very pissed off, and we secretly wrote some information on the comments sheet. All of them shopped for liquor while I stayed outside to look after our laggages. Quite pissed off, as I felt a little outcasted. Anyway, finally, after 45 minutes of liquor shopping, we took cabs back to our respective homes. The trip, though arguments, quarrels as well as disatisfaction arised, was a really fun one. "Would I return to Bangkok?" Hmm.. I might consider I guess! |
